Sprint on Thursday announced it will soon begin exclusively selling a white version of the HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone.
The new white EVO 4G LTE will be available in Sprint stores and online starting this Sunday, July 15. As with the current black model, the new white version will cost $199.999 with a two-year contract, Sprint said.
Technically, the new model is two-toned with white and silver. It has an aluminum frame and back, with a matching silver kickstand and white accents.
Sprint last month, possibly inadvertently, hinted that it would carry a white version of the EVO 4G LTE with a banner advertisement, according to Engadget. Sprint also has a history of carrying white EVO models.
Sprint isn’t the only carrier that’s going to be offering exclusive smartphone colors this summer. AT&T on Thursday announced that it will start selling a “garnet red” version of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone at the end of this month. Also on tap for AT&T is an exclusive bright pink version of the Nokia Lumia 900 smartphone, which the carrier will begin selling on July 15.
Meanwhile, the EVO 4G LTE boasts a 4.7-inch display, and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing one.
Sprint began selling the EVO 4G LTE on June 2, through it was originally scheduled to hit stores on May 18. A patent battle with Apple resulted in the smartphone — as well as the HTC One X — being stalled at the border by U.S. Customs.
“HTC’s amazing camera and authentic sound experience bring the HTC EVO 4G LTE to life as a true successor to the original HTC EVO, one of the most successful Android franchises in the United States,” Martin Fichter, vice president of product management at HTC America, said in a statement.
